What story should the video tell?
Pick one thread. Without one, the film feels like a pile of pictures. Here are three approaches that work:

- Everyday life, not only events. A photo in the kitchen or on a simple trip feels real.
- One photo from each period. Do not use five photos from the same vacation.
- Sharp photos. Clear faces give a better result.
- A strong first and last photo. The first one opens the story and the last one closes it. A recent photo works well at the end.

How many photos and how long a film?
12 photos make one minute of film, and each photo shows for about 5 seconds on average.

You can upload anywhere from 2 to 100 photos, and there is an exact package for every number in between. An anniversary film usually fits 2 to 4 minutes, but that is a rule of thumb, not a rule. For more detail, see our table of how many photos you need.
How do you order the photos and add music?
Put the photos in the order you want them to appear. A timeline starts with your first photo together and ends with the latest. To help the story land, start strong, let the middle be calmer, and finish on a happy photo. There is more in our article on photo order.
For music you have two choices: a track from the library, or your own song. Many couples have "our song," and it is the natural pick. If you do not, calm, romantic music without words lets the photos do the talking. More about choosing music.
What if some photos are missing?
Almost every couple has a stretch with no photos, like the years when nobody took many pictures. That is fine. Instead of forcing it, you can skip those years, or ask friends and relatives for photos from that time. Sometimes your best photo is sitting on someone else's phone. Ask grown children, friends and siblings, and tell them to send the pictures as they are.
If you have several good photos from one day, like the wedding, choose one or two, not ten. An anniversary video tells the story of a whole road, so there is no need to cover every day along it.
What do you write on the opening and ending cards?
